Let’s shift our perspective on legacy. It’s not just about money, cars, or houses, that’s inheritance. Legacy runs much deeper than that.
Here are five essential legacies every boy child needs, and it all begins at home:
🧠1. The Legacy of Identity
Help him understand WHO he is before the world tries to define him.
“You are not an accident. You are a seed of greatness. Your masculinity isn’t a threat, it’s a calling.”
Speak life into him. Name him with intention. Teach him to cherish his manhood as something sacred, not toxic.
🙏 2. The Legacy of Faith
If a boy never witnesses a man praying, he might never believe that men can be spiritual.
Let him see your tears in prayer.
Let him hear you worship in the car.
Teach him to fight his battles on his knees.
Show him that true strength lies not in fists, but in surrendering to God.
👣 3. The Legacy of Responsibility
Encourage him to take initiative, not just to be a consumer, but a contributor.
• Give him chores to do.
• Allow him to lead in small ways.
• Celebrate responsibility over entitlement.
Teach him: “Manhood isn’t about control, it’s about protection.”
đź’¬ 4. The Legacy of Emotional Honesty
Let him cry. Let him talk. Let him feel.
Remind him:
“You don’t lose your manhood when you feel, you enrich it.”
Boys who are allowed to express their emotions in healthy environments won’t lash out in harmful ways outside.
📚 5. The Legacy of Vision
Instead of just asking, “What do you want to be when you grow up?” ask, “Who is God calling you to become?”
Create a space for meaningful conversations about purpose.
Encourage him to dream. Help him see beyond the present.
Because when a boy has vision, he won’t settle for dysfunction.
