As we celebrate the international family day with the theme : Your Family Is A Seed Of Nation, we have decided to run a series covering everyone in the family because family without everyone is incomplete.
And yes we start with our precious daughters.
Why speak nicely to them? Because your words are like seeds, and her heart is the fertile ground.
Let me share a little story with you…
Once, a young girl happened to overhear her father telling a guest, “This one is sharp. She’ll go far.”
She wasn’t in the room, nor was she part of that conversation.
But those words took root deep within her soul.
She walked taller at school, took bold steps in class, and dared to dream big.
All because her father spoke kindly not just to her face, but about her when she wasn’t around.
Now, let’s flip the script…
“She’s too loud.”
“She’s just like her mother, stubborn.”
“She’ll bring shame if we don’t keep an eye on her.”
Those harsh words can crush a future before the world even gets a chance to nurture it.
Why Your Words Matter to Your Daughter:
• 🌺Words shape her identity !
She internalizes what she hears repeatedly. Speak kindly, and she’ll grow up knowing she’s valued and capable.
🌺• Words build her confidence!
When you highlight her strengths, she’s less likely to seek validation from harmful sources, like toxic relationships or social media.
🌺• Words teach her what love should sound like
If “love” is always wrapped in sarcasm, yelling, or insults, she might confuse abuse for affection later on.
🌺• Words protect her destiny!
Proverbs 18:21 reminds us, “The tongue has the power of life and death.” Your words can either nurture her dreams or stifle them.
🌺• Words echo into her future motherhood
How you speak to her now will often reflect how she’ll communicate with her own children down the line.
Cultural Checkpoint:
In many African households,
🥀the girl-child is often “seen but not heard.”
🥀Her beauty is celebrated more than her intellect.
🥀Her obedience is valued more than her opinions.
🥀But if we want to raise queens who thrive, not just girls who endure, we need to start with the way we talk to them.
Speak life today:
• “You are wise.”
• “You are precious.”
• “You have something special to offer.”
• “You make me proud.”
• “God has a wonderful plan for you.”
Today;
speak a blessing over your girl-child whether she’s 0 or 25.
And watch her blossom under the sunlight.
