Dear Purpose-Driven Families,
This week, another case made headlines Chidinma shared her story in court about discovering Usifo Ataga’s lifeless body in a Lekki apartment.
When I first heard about this case, my heart bled😪🩸.
We need to do more really as a family. This is not to apportion blame , but to help us see what and where we could build bridges and fill the voids that could help reduce this social crisis that are traceable to family background.
We can’t keep discussing, moaning over these crisis and continue blaming individuals without reviewing and intervening in the system that produces such individuals and releasing them to the society to cause mehem though unintentionally or ignorantly.
“Children don’t just become — they are being shaped daily.”
Values can either be nurtured or shattered and it all begins at home.
What values was she raised on? Does your family have an outlined value and how well does your children understand and apply theses on their day to day engagements?
What kind of environment did this young girl grow up in?
What important discussions were overlooked?
What limits were never set?
What provisions were made for her as an undergraduate?
What deprivation did she suffer that she needed to fend for herself that might have pushed her to another woman husband’s arm? Though this is not to justify her actions. But let me ask you, are you giving birth to the number of children you can sufficiently provide for till they become independent or should I not mention that?
While the world debates the legal aspects, timelines, or intentions, I believe there’s a more profound lesson for families to grasp:
Who are we nurturing behind closed doors?
The world sees the results.
We are the ones tending to the roots.
This isn’t about casting judgment — it’s about awakening.
It’s about recognizing that without intentional values, strong accountability, and a solid spiritual foundation, even the most promising child can stray off course.
As a parent, I’ve learned:
• It’s not enough to provide.
• It’s not enough to protect.
• We must equip our children for a world that will challenge everything we’ve taught them.
I challenge you today don’t just raise children to navigate the world. Raise them to change it.
Start early.
Stay consistent.
Speak up.
And above all, never stop praying.
Because raising children isn’t about control , it’s about cultivation.
Can the problem be solved in a day? Absolutely no!!
Can a change be achieved? Absolutely Yes!!!
But we have to start somewhere and somehow. And NOW is the best time to do something!
Let’s take an action
Let’s build with intention.
Let’s love passionately.
Let’s parent with purpose.
Let’s rebuild the broken wall of families starting from yours and mine!
Let’s walk together in this journey of taking our strategic position in restoring the purpose and the glory of the family!!
With purpose and passion.
